About Free Monkey Interactive
 Past
Free Monkey Interactive began as a group of content-producing individuals from the Unreal community who, after the closure of Legend Entertainment in 2004 decided to bring Legend's "Expanded Multiplayer" (XMP) gametype to Unreal Tournament 2004 in the form of a total conversion. Several of the founding members of Free Monkey Interactive had previously worked together on game modification projects such as Marathon: Resurrection, Overload and the U2XMP CBP, however this was the first time any of them had attempted a project so highly anticipated.
Free Monkey released the first version of the total conversion, "UTXMP" in December 2004 to high praise from players of the original Unreal 2 XMP, and shooter fans in general. The project also attracted attention from such printed magazines as PC Gamer and PC Zone. Free Monkey continued to support UTXMP over the following years with additional content and bug fixes, while releasing other minor projects like Overload 2004 and MonkeyBuild.
Present and Future Free Monkey is currently beginning design work on a brand new game project from scratch. This game will be built on top of a popular open-source rendering engine, and will initially be available for the PC.
